Abstract

1376122 Thermal regenerators SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER AB 2 Nov 1971 [2 Nov 1970] 51927/70 Heading F4K In a thermal regenerator of the rotary matrix or rotary duct type, the regenerative matrix is divided into sectorial compartments 16 by radial partitions 14 and straight or arcuate transverse walls 18, the transverse walls of at least some of the compartments being provided with two spaced apart slits 22 extending in the axial direction of the matrix from opposite edges of the wall, so that these walls are yieldable in the peripheral direction of the matrix. The matrix has a rotor post 10 and a cylindrical outer shell 12 composed of a plurality of segments welded to the partitions. To the upper and lower edges of the shell segments are secured rings 20 of L-shaped cross-section having cylindrical surfaces adapted to co-operate with stationary sealing strips (not shown). The shell segments also have slits 22 which are covered by plates 24 welded to the segments to prevent leakage. Likewise plate elements 28 cover the gaps 26 between adjacent segments constituting the rings 20.
