Abstract

1375632 Aqueous lubricants FARBWERKE HOEOHST AG 25 Jan 1972 [26 Jan 1971] 3447/72 Heading C5F An aqueous, preferably oil-free coolant and lubricant comprises (A) at least one watersoluble amine salt of an aryl-sulphonamidoalkylene carboxylic acid and (B) at least one poly-addition product containing residues of (i) ethylene oxide and (ii) propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide. The invention also includes a process for working a metal, other than by cold rolling, which comprises applying the above aqueous composition to the metal. Component (B) may be an additive of ethylene, propylene or butylene oxides with diols, polyols, mono-, di- and tri-amines, polyamines, alkanolamines, carboxylic acids and amides, or phenols. The salt-forming amine is preferably an ethanolamine or isopropanolamine. The composition may contain 0À1-5 wt. per cent of A and 0À5- 12 wt. per cent of B. Very many (A) and (B) components are specified. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,222,254 and 1,236,638.
