Abstract
1375545 Thermal storage heaters; ventilating valves UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 Jan 1972 [8 Oct 1970] 47826/70 Headings F4U and F4V Egress of air heated by a core of thermal storage blocks in a thermal storage heater is controlled by a flap valve 16 above an air duct 14 which valve is controlled by a bimetallic strip 19 effected by heat passing through core insulation 12 so as to contact the valve and raise it to the open, operative positions when heat output is decreasing. The valve is biased to the closed position about hinges 17, and the end of the bimetal remote from the flap valve is adjustably mounted in a bracket 20 so as to alter its operative temperature. A resistance wire 28 positioned beneath and closely adjacent the bimetal is heated when the core is charged to maintain the valve in the closed position. A rotary manual override lever 22 guided in a slot 26 of a support plate is provided. In a modification the override lever is a spring-biased cranked lever.
