Abstract

1375062 Protective cap for the flared end of a tube GUY-RAYMOND ENG CO Ltd 15 March 1973 [9 Feb 1972] 6076/72 Heading B8C A protective cap 12 for the flared end 11 of a tube 10 comprises a tubular portion 13 adapted to fit within a tubular portion of the flared tube, a flared portion at one end of the tubular portion 13 adapted to seat within, and against, the flared portion of the flared tube, and an annular protective lip 15 joined to the flared portion by an annular flange 16 and surrounding the flared portion so as to protect the flared end of the tube. As shown, the cap 12, preferably injection moulded from a high density polythene, polypropylene, or nylon, is stiffened and strengthened by a flat web 18 at the base of the flared portion 14 and by sets of radially-extending ribs 17 and 19 respectively above and below the web 18 on the flared and tubular portions 14, 13. The cap may be adapted to fit different shapes of tube-end flares, e.g. a part-spherical flare (11), Fig. 4, not shown.
