Abstract
1373903 Dyeing carpets DOW CORNING CORP 14 Feb 1973 [11 Dec 1972] 7191/73 Heading D1B [Also in Division C3] An antifoam composition for use in jet dyeing and carpet dyeing processes consists of (1) 30-90 wt% of a polysiloxane polyglycol of the general formula: wherein R is a C 1-10 hydrocarbon radical free of aliphatic unsaturation, G is a radical -D(OR) m A wherein D is a C 1-30 alkylene radical, R' is a C 2-10 alkylene radical and m is 1 or more, a is 0 or 1, n is at least 1, b is 0-50, and c is 1-50, (2) 5-35 wt% of a foam control agent comprising 85-96wt% of a liquid triorganosilyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane of viscosity at least 20is/25‹C, 4-12 wt% SiO 2 and 0-3wt% of a siloxane resin consisting of units SiO 2 and Me 3 SiO 0À5 in a ratio 1:0.4-1.2, and (3) 5-35 wt% of a liquid silanol-terminated polydimethylsiloxane of 50- 200 cS/25‹C. In the Examples compositions are prepared containing (i) 70 or 50 wt% of a copolymer Me 3 SiO (Me 2 SiO) 75 (MeGSiO) 7 SiMe 3 , wherein G is -(CH 2 ) 3 (OC 2 H 4 ) 24 (OC 3 H 6 ) 24 OOC. CH 3 , and 15 or 25 wt% each of (ii) a mixture of 88 pbw Me 3 Si-terminated polydimethylsiloxane of viscosity 1000 cS/25‹C, 10 pbw silica aerogel and 2 pbw of an SiO 2 / Me 3 SiO 0 . 5 resin and (iii) a silanol-terminated polydimethylsiloxane of viscosity 75 cS/25‹C. They are used to control foam in a jet dyeing and a polyester carpet dyeing process in amounts of e.g. 0.02wt% of the bath.
