Abstract

1373260 Automatic control of programming FRANZ MORAT GmbH 29 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 60489/71 Heading G3N Apparatus for controlling a knitting machine or preparing a control strip for a knitting machine comprises an intermediate store for holding pattern information line by line in serial which is read out in the machine stroke to control the machine or to a marking device a new line being exchanged for the read-out line in the intermediate store. As shown, an artists drawing 1 is scanned lineby-line by a photo-electric device 2 the signals from which are processed into lines in a device 3 and fed via a coding-decoding unit 4, wherein a binary-coded word corresponds to each colour, to a temporary store 5 and a logic circuit 6 to a magnetic tape store 7. The tape store is then interrogated to energize a printing device 9 to produce a raster pattern 10 corresponding to the drawing 1. When necessary, the pattern 10 is modified and scanned, the sequence being repeated until the pattern is of the desired shape. The store 7 is then read to provide control signals to a knitting machine 11 or produce a control strip by a device 12. The displacement of information, as needed for the knitting process, is effected by a device 8.
