Abstract
1371151 Buckles AMERICAN SAFETY EQUIPMENT CORP 17 Jan 1972 2214/72 Heading E2A A multiple buckle is arranged to release the straps in succession in response to progressive downward movement of the release button 80. The strap-tongues A, B, C, D, E are held at their apertures 13 by latching noses 44 on tiltable latching plates 41, biased to their fastening position by the arms 52, 54 56 of platespring 50. These latching plates have projecting releasing tabs 71, 76 one overlying the other end engaged by a ramp surface 83 on a shoe 82 connected to the sliding release button 80, and as may be seen in Fig. 5, straps B and C (connected to shoulder straps) are released before the shoe reaches the tabs of straps D and E (lap and crotch straps). Strap A has no releasing tab and so is retained captive in the buckle.
