Abstract

1370035 Parting-off tool WARNER & SWASEY CO 12 Sept 1972 [13 Dec 1971 17 July 1972] 42366/72 Heading B3B A parting-off tool comprises a shank 2 with a pocket at one end defined by a recessed surface 21 with a groove 22 and in which is located an insert support blade 30 having a projection 35 on one side which engages in the groove 22. The top edge 33 of the support blade 30 is formed by a Vee shaped configuration with a contiguous flat surface 34 extending therefrom, the Vee shaped portion engaging the bottom surface 54 of an insert 50 and the surface 34 forming a support for an insert stop 40. The support blade and stop 40 are secured to the shank recess by screws 71 and 72 respectively and the insert is clamped to the support blade by a clamping block 60 secured to the shank 20 by screw 73. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) the support blade is formed of greater depth than the support 30 described above.
