Abstract
1368271 Fluid heater T P NICHOLSON 24 May 1972 [4 June 1971] 19070/71 Heading H5H A fluid heater comprises a stack of subassemblies. Fig. 4, interposed by heating elements extending between the spacers 18 and the length of the plate 10. Each spacer 18 is half the height of a heating element, the complete assembly being shown in Fig. 5, the elements being positioned in areas 12. The unit may be welded, brazed or soldered up, lines of welding or brazing being used to form joint seals. Top and bottom plates 22 are provided. The central portion of each sub-assembly comprises a fluid channel a corrugated insert being secured therein, e.g. by brazed, or spot welded &c., to act as a guide member. The end guide members 24 are half the thickness of the remainder. The flow of liquid into and out of the heater may be via baffle plates of preferably alternate layers of metal plates 32 and corrugated portions 30, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown).
