Abstract

1368063 Packages with tear strip AGFA-GEVAERT 21 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 50835/70 Heading B8C A package, comprising a stack of sheets enclosed in a wrapper which is heat sealed at opposite edges 72, has a tear strip 17 which underlies the wrapper and is punched therethrough to form a loop 70. The wrapper may be partially cut at 71 to form a removable corner piece 73. In a machine for producing the package, a first web 13 is withdrawn from a roll 12 and two tear strips 16, 17 are adhered thereto by heat seal devices 18, 19, the loop 70 being formed by a punch 50. The edges of the web are then folded upwardly by stationary folders 25, 26 and the stack of sheets placed on the web between the upstanding edges. These edges are then folded down on to the stack by further folders 27, 28. A second web 23 is then sealed to the first web 13 by heat-seal devices 34, 35 and the web transversely sealed and severed by a heating bar 38 and a blade 41 carried by a reciprocable carriage.
