Abstract

1367425 Rotary outlet valves for bottom pour ladles H BIERI 8 June 1972 [9 June 1971] 26695/72 Heading F4B The pouring hole 3 of a bottom pour ladle is controlled by a rotatable valve 28 having an outlet passage 9, a spring 12 pressing the valve 28 against a seating, and the load of the valve being carried by a bearing assembly secured to the ladle. The valve seats in a part spherical recess with a refractory line 4 co-operating with a refractory facing 5 on the valve assembly. Ball bearings 12 rest between a race secured to the ladle and a toothed ring 19 to which a drive is applied. An annular spring 12 is connected to the ring 19 and the valve 28 by pins 15, 13, and presses against a shoulder 30 on the valve body to press it into its seat. The drive is transmitted to the valve through the pins 13, 15 and the spring 12. In a modification, the driving ring carries roller bearings engaging a race secured to the ladle.
