Abstract

1367291 Roller conveyers; unloading by tipping DOW CHEMICAL CO 5 Oct 1971 [6 Oct 1970] 46293/71 Headings B8A and B8E A kiln shoot 15 of an incinerator receives refuse from a container 11 which, from the position shown in Fig. 1 and in full lines in Fig. 2, is tipped about an axis 18. The container is conveyed by powered roller conveyers 12-14 on to a dump grid 17 to which the container is clamped by operation of an arm 20 co-operating with a fixed arm 19. The grid 17, comprising a floor section 17a of spaced parallel bars arranged to pass between the rollers of the conveyer, after being tipped through 180 degrees, is returned to its starting position, the container is unclamped and, by reversing the drive to the conveyer 14, is discharged on to conveyer 16. An explosionproof arrangement for handling highly inflammable materials comprises hydraulically operated safety gates 21, 22. A modified method of using the apparatus comprises dumping the refuse and the container into the shoot 15. In Fig. 3, the arm 20 remains withdrawn and a ram 23 pushes the container on to a grid 24 which is then pivoted downwardly to drop the container and its contents into the shoot 15. Sensing and counting devices may automatically control the sequence of operations.
