Abstract
136,626. Price, W. E. Dec. 17, 1918. Flue pipes; baffles; dampers. - A device for regulating the draught in flues, particularly those of gas appliances, consists of a tube E sliding on the upper flue-pipe A and with a bell or cone-shaped end F, which, in its lowest position, contacts with a ring-shaped plate G secured near the top of the lower portion B of the flue - pipe. Excessive draught is checked by raising the cone, air then entering the flue-pipe at the gap D between the two parts A, B. The cone is secured in position by a screw K passing through a slot J in the tube E. Instead of being in two portions joined by strips C, as shown, the flue may be in one piece with holes in the wall at the point D. In the form shown, the end L of the upper pipe is flared outwards, and the end M of the lower pipe contracted in order to deflect down-draughts outwards.
