Abstract
1365762 Meat skinning machines TOWNSEND ENG CO 15 Feb 1972 7047/72 Heading A2U In a meat skinning machine comprising a serrated, rotary gripping roll 46 which feeds meat 116 from a conveyer 40 towards a skinning blade 76, the two ends of the blade are secured to plates (not shown) which have arcuate portions to coact with the ends of the roll 46 to prevent engagement of the blade with the serrations, and these plates are pivotally engaged with spring-loaded plungers housed in members 62' mounted on the ends of arms 60 which are carried by a shaft 58 and are rigid with arms 84 having sprung telescopic connections with arms 100 on a shaft 102. The arrangement is such that the pressure of meat initially engaging the blade causes an anticlockwise movement of the arms 60 about the axis of the shaft 58, to bring the blade close to the roll for the skinning operation, the arms and blade being returned to their initial positions by springs 96 on completion of the operation. The springs in the housings 62' allow the blade to compensate for variations in thickness of the skin. The blade assembly is movable to a position for cleaning &c by clockwise movement of a handle 114 which, through arms 100 and the telescopic connections, causes anticlockwise movement of the arms 60.
