Abstract

1363250 Transhipping at sea CREUSOT-LOIRE 29 Dec 1971 [6 Jan 1971] 60607/71 Heading B8E Apparatus for transhipping at sea comprises means 3, Fig. 1, for maintaining ships 1, 2 a fixed distance apart, belt conveyers 4, 8 for displacing the loads, a load table 13 for moving loads in the hold and a hoist 9 for raising the loads to deck level. As described the means 3 is a hydraulic ram pivoted at 31, 32 to the ships. Each conveyer comprises a pair of parallel belts. The load table and the hoist are each provided with rollers such as 131, 132, Fig. 3, arranged at right angles to each other. The rollers are mounted on frames 134 supported on pivoted links 135 so that rollers on opposite sides can be raised and lowered in unison by a handle 136. Alternatively one pair of rollers may be fixed and the other pair may be arranged to be lockable below, level with and above the fixed pair. By raising or lowering appropriate rollers a container 60 can be moved in either of two mutually perpendicular directions. The load table, Fig. 3, is supported from rails 16 attached to the underside of the deck.
