Abstract

1362941 Photographic printing apparatus AGFA-GEVAERT A G 23 Sept 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 44431/71 Heading G2A Photographic printing apparatus has a main exposing light 1 Fig. 1 for projecting an image of an original 4 on to photographic printing material 6 a further light 10 for uniformly exposing the print material to alter its gradation, the operation of the two lights overlapping in time, and means for controlling the image exposure including a photo-electric device 8 which is arranged to only receive light from the main exposing light 1. In one embodiment, a yellow filter 9 is positioned in front of the photo-cell, and a blue filter placed in front of the further light source. The photo-cell receives light from main exposing light via a semi-reflecting mirror 7. Alternatively, the photo-cell and its filter is positioned beneath the printing material, Fig. 2 (not shown), or the photo-cell may be positoned in the plane of the objective 5 to receive light scattered from the original, in which case no filters are necessary, Fig.3 (not shown). The apparatus is controlled by the circuit shown in Fig. 4. One input to a comparison amplifier 17 is connected to the common point of the photo-cell 8 and a timing capacitor 15. The other input is connected to a voltage divider in which adjustable resistor 21 is coupled to on adjustable resistor 22 in the further light source circuit, adjustable resistor 19 sets the apparatus to the basic hardness of the printing material, and adjustable resistor 26 corrects for deviations from the reciprocity law.
