Abstract
1362789 Aerating liquids BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 21 Sept 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 45619/70 Heading B1C Apparatus for entraining a gas in a liquid comprises coaxial conduits 12, 14 for the liquid and gas respectively, and a gas distributor 20 in the liquid conduit, the gas conduit 14 having a widened portion 18 which forms a constriction to cause turbulance. As shown the distributor is a gauze or perforated plate and the constrction is formed by the presence of the distributor. Both conduits may be circular in cross-section, or rectangular in which case they may be of equal breadth and the distributor pyramidof wedge-shaped. Preferred proportions are recited. The liquid may be recirculated by a pump 6. The apparatus may be used for treating a liquid foodstuff, a water supply, or waste water with sulphur dioxide, chlorine, oxygen ,air, or an oxygen-ozone or air-ozone mixture.
