Abstract

1362346 Foundry patterns CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 20 July 1972 [26 July 1971] 34056/72 Heading B3F A foundry pattern P for forming moulds S for seal rings having backdraft portions comprises a rigid sleeve member 11 having wall portions 30, 32 tapering from a base portion and an elastomeric skin 12, e.g. of silicone rubber bonded to the wall portion 30, 32, the skin 12 having an integral flexible backdraft-forming portion 13. The rigid sleeve member 11 is bolted at 17 to a disc-shaped base 10 holding rough lower edges 14 of the elastomeric skin 12 between the sleeve 11 and base 10. Several bases 10 with patterns P may be bolted on to a pattern plate 20. As the patterns P are removed from a cured mould S the backdraft portion 13 flexes so as not to damage the mould S.
