Abstract
1362068 Oxidation catalysts NATIONAL DISTILLERS & CHEMICAL CORP 17 Dec 1971 [17 Dec 1970 10 Nov 1971] 58793/71 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A catalyst composition comprises palladium, metal, phosphoric acid and a support therefor. The metal may be alone or admixed, alloyed or in solid solution with a further metal such as ore from Group VIII or IB, e.g. silver or gold. Silica, alumina, titania, carborundum, carbon or ion exchange resins may be used as supports. Proportions of from 0.01 to 5% of palladium each 1 to 50% of phosphoric acid based on the total imposition may be used. The palladium may be deposited by a salt impregnation followed by reduction to the metal and syrupy phosphoric acid is added followed by calcining. Examples describe the preparation of a palladium, phosphoric acid, alumina catalyst, and palladium, gold or silver phosphoric acid catalyst on alumina and also the use of a silica support.
