Abstract

1361820 Luffing arm apparatus REDMAN FISHER ENG Ltd 21 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971 7 Jan 1972] 59991/71 and 868/72 Heading B8H [Also in Division F1] A ram 1, 2, Fig. 1, extends when fluid is pumped by a pump 14, 18 from the interior of a piston 1, through a conduit 9, check-valves 15 and a bore 10 into a cylinder 2. Opening a needle-valve 12 allows the ram to retract. The pump may be remote from the ram and connected thereto by conduits. Fig. 2 shows the ram used in a crane. Fig. 4 shows the crane mounted on a vehicle which has a sub-frame 43 with aligned sockets 44, 46 which respectively receive a spigot on the crane and an adjustable support 45.
