Abstract

1361484 Non-metallic springs LONG & HAMBLY Ltd 20 March 1972 [4 Feb 1971] 3878/71 Heading F2S An elastomeric (rubber) bush 14 is of generally elliptic outline in cross-section and has an axial bore in which is fixed (bonded) a rigid sleeve 11. It may be fitted directly to supporting and supported members but as shown it forms part of a resilient mounting 10, for a vehicle-suspension radius arm, and has a bonded outer shell in two parts 12 which close together, when the mounting is contracted in a housing, to form a cylinder coaxial with the cylinder 11. The cylinder 11 and shell 12 may be of steel or of non-metallic material. Contraction of the mounting is facilitated by slots 16 in the elastomeric bush 14 where the gaps 13 between the shell parts 12 are located.
