Abstract
1361182 Forming piles in situ HO CHEUNG-WAH 19 July 1971 [23 July 1970] 35707/70 Heading E1H To form a concrete, cement or ballast pile in situ, a lining tube 1 is driven into the ground or located in a prepared bore hole, and the pile forming material charged into the lined hole from a movable hopper 6 which is closed by a plug 8, the material being released as the lowered hopper abuts a stop 1a welded to the tube 1. The plug 8 is then reciprocated to tamp down the deposited material as the tube 1 is partially withdrawn. To form a long pile successive charges of material are deposited and tamped. A detachable iron shoe 3 may be fitted initially to the tube 1 when the latter is to be driven.
