Abstract

1361166 Electrostatic separators L SCHWAB 22 Feb 1973 [21 March 1972] 8767/73 Heading B2J An electrostatic filter is provided with an electrode arrangement 16, 18, 20 for agglomerating sub-micron size particles in a gas flow 14. the electrodes being arranged in parallel and spaced relationship as shown. Electrodes 16 and 20 are connected to a voltage source 22 providing a first varying voltage, e.g. of sawtooth waveform with an A.C. ripple, and electrode 18 is connected to a voltage source 24 providing a second and different varying voltage, e.g. of sinusoidal waveform. Each electrode comprises a conductive frame 26 across which extend a plurality of parallelspaced conductors 28 in the form of braided wire or springs (Figs. 3 to 6, not shown) which produce complex electrostatic fields to enhance agglomeration.
