Abstract
1360581 Thermosensitive material containing a spiro compound and an organic acid FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 29 March 1972 [30 March 1971] 14898/72 Heading G2C A thermosensitive recording material comprises, on the same or different supports, a spiro compound present in solid form and having the formula: - where R 1 and R 2 each independently is H, 1-8C alkyl, phenyl or aralkyl and a normally solid organic acid free from SO 3 H groups and having a pKa of 3À5 or less. R 1 and R 2 may be H, methyl, isopropyl, amyl, octyl, phenyl, benzyl or phenethyl. Many examples of organic acids are given. The material may also comprise a thermally fusible material having a melting point of 50-180‹ C e.g. acetanilide, phenoxyacetic acid (serving also as the organic acid), urea, p-phenylphenol, #-nitrobenzoic acid (serving also as the organic acid), bis (hydroxyethyl) terephthalate, p-tert butyl phenol, α-furancarboxylic acid (serving also as the organic acid), #-chlorobenzoic acid (which may be used as the organic acid), maleic anhydride, 4, 4<SP>1</SP>-isopropylidenediphenol or triphenyl phosphate. The material may contain a binder. The material is not colour fogged on storage and colour images produced have excellent light-fastness and water-resistance.
