1360562 Dyeing keratinic fibres L OREAL 5 June 1972 [4 June 1971 6 Jan 1972] 26204/72 Heading D1B [Also in Division C4] Diazamerocyanines (mesomeric azo dyes) used as direct dyes for dyeing keratinic fibres e.g. hair have the general formula A=N-N=B where A is an N-containing 5- or 6-membered hetero ring optionally containing further hetero atoms and B is an N-containing 5- or 6-membered hetero ring optionally containing further hetero atoms, radical B is an N-containing heterocyclic structure with 5- or 6-ring members which can contain other hetero atoms and may be one as defined for A but is not identical to A, a substituted p-benzoquinone or p-N<SP>+</SP>-benzoquinone radical or an optionally substituted 3-amino-5-oxo-cyclohexa-1, 3-diene- 6-ylidene radical. The dyeing compositions are aqueous or aqueous alcoholic solutions of pH 3-8 containing 0.001 to 0.5% by weight of the above dye and may also contain further dyes of the azo, anthraquinone, nitrobenzene, indoaniline, indophenol or indamine series. The compositions may be used as hair wave setting lotions by adding conventional wave setting resins and further adjuvants include wetting, dispersing, swelling or penetrating agents, softeners and perfumes. The compositions may be used as aerosols.
