1359754 Piecing in open end spinning ELITEX 5 May 1972 [24 May 1971] 20936/72 Heading DID A piecing device for an open endspinning unit comprises rollers 31, 19 and yarn guide 28 on pivoted arms 7, 8 which swing to lift the winding bobbin 30 from its driving roller and form a yarn reserve after a yarn break. The arrangement is such that in one position of the arms 7, 8 (normal operation Fig. 2 not shown), the yarn guide 28 is free from the yarn extending between the outlet of the spinning unit, the pressure roller 19 is cooperating with yarn withdrawal roller 1 and the bobbin awning roller 31 allows the winding bobbin 30 to co-operate with the winding roller 2. In the other position of the arms (as shown), the yarn guide 28 the yarn guide forms the reserve length of yarn, and the pressure roller 19 and winding bobbin 30 are in inoperative positions. As described, upon yarn breakage the interconnected pivoted levers 7, 8 are swung from their normal spinning position (Fig. 2 not shown) into the position shown wherein the winding bobbin 30 is lifted from the winding roller 2, pressure roller 19 is lifted from yarn withdraw roller 1 and yarn guides 28, 32 are in their extended positions shown. The yarn end from bobbin 30 is then threaded through guide 32, behind roller 19 and through guide 28 into the withdrawal tube 35. Levers 7, 8 are then pivoted anticlockwise to feed the yarn end into the withdrawal tube 35 and thus piece the yarn. When roller 19 reaches withdrawal roller 1, and the winding bobbin is lowered onto roller 2, new yarn is withdrawn and wound up.
