Abstract

1357191 Slide valves for metallurgical ladles STOPINC AG 25 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 16954/71 Heading F4B A sliding gate nozzle for a bottom-pour ladle comprises a frame 4 attached to the ladle shell 1 having a nozzle box 5 hinged thereto at 6, a nozzle plate 11 grouted with mortar in an insertion frame 13 disposed centrally of the nozzle box, a sliding gate 12 located in a support body 14, a felt ring 26, Fig. 7, disposed between the orifice brick 3 and the nozzle plate 11 and a copper asbestos seal 27 disposed between the nozzle box 5 and the ladle shell 1. Slotted pins (8, Fig. 4) on the frame 4 engage lugs (10) on the nozzle box 5 and keys (9, Fig. 3) driven into the slots hold the frame and nozzle box together. The insertion frame 13 is attached to the nozzle box by screws 25. A cover 18 is drawn tight against the nozzle box by swing bolts (21, Fig. 2) carrying dish springs (22). The working parts of the valve, being assembled within the nozzle box 5 are easily replaced by knocking out the keys (9), removing said box from its hinges 6 and replacing it by another in which the said working parts are pre-assembled.
