1354518 Liquid extractors F K WANGER 26 Oct 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 49580/71 Heading A4C [Also in Division B1] A liquid extractor comprises a casing 1, Fig. 1, in the lower part of which are disposed an electric motor 2 having a vertical shaft 3, a sieve-basket 4, a disc 5 arranged above the base 6 of said basket, a nozzle 14 in which material to be squeezed is fed by a plunger 15, and a stripper 19 for use in the automatic ejection of the crushed residues from the squeezed material. Fruit, vegetables &c. are placed in the nozzle 14 and fed on to the spiked disc 5 which revolves with the sieve-basket upon energization of said motor. The plunger has a longitudinal groove 17 in which an arm 18 is disposed and serves to alternate the position of the stripper 19 on the cylindrical sieve wall 24 of the basket. The stripper has five blades 23 1 -23 5 offset height-wise from one another and are arranged to be pivoted about bearings 21, 22 into two positions on said sieve wall Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown). The basket has a tapered sieve part 26, Fig.4, to aid the upward movement of the crushed residues under centrifugal force. The stripper alternating device comprises the arm 18 mounted on a pin 32 which is pivoted counterclockwise by a torsion spring 33 so that the ends of the arm contact the side walls of the stuffer. A pin 30 secured on a hub 20 of the stripper passes into a slot (31) Figs. 3, 5 (not shown) in the lower part 14a of the filling nozzle 14 and co-operates with the arm 18. When slices of fruit &c. are pressed with the stuffer 15 against the disc 5 the pin 30 slides against the arm 18 and throughout the feeding operation causes an alternate set of blades 23 1,3, 5 and 23 2, 4 to contact the sieve wall 24 Figs. 5, 8 and 3, 10 (not shown). The alternating movement of the blades causes the upward displacement of rings 36 of crushed residues into positions 36 1 -36 5 with the aid of centrifugal force exerted by the revolving sieve-basket during the feeding process. Continual movement of the blades and basket finally results in the blade 23 5 pushing the ring 36 over the rim 25 of the basket, from whence the residues pass through an aperture 37 and into a draining gutter 38 projecting from a cover 12 of the extractor. The juice extracted from the squeezed fruit &c. passes through the perforated sides of the basket during centrifuging, runs along the inner side of the casing 1 into an annular gutter 28 and thence into a discharge member 29.
