Abstract
1354498 Detergents containing anti-redeposition agents UNILEVER Ltd 11 Aug 1971 [12 Aug 1970] 38797/70 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprises a surfactant and, as anti-redeposition agent for synthetic fabrics, a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and vinyl acetate having an average molecular weight of 10,000 to 400,000. The copolymers are those having a mol. ratio of vinylpyrrolidone to vinylacetate of between 10 : 90 and 90 : 10, preferably between 30 : 70 and 70 : 30. Other anti-redeposition agents, e.g. sodium or potassium carboxymethylcellulose, may be present. The surfactants may be anionic, nonionic, cationic or ampholytic detergents. Other ingredients which may be present are (a) alkanolamide lather boosters, (b) inorganic builders, e.g. phosphates, carbonates and silicates, (c) organic builders, e.g. sodium nitrilotriacetate, (d) bleaches, e.g. sodium perborate, sodium percarbonate and sodium chlorocyanurates, (e) enzymes, (f) hydrotropes, e.g. sodium xylene sulphonate, (g) ethanol.
