Abstract

1353001 Panel joints S A BRADBURY 22 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 3149/70 Heading E1W [Also in Division F2] Wall or ceiling panels 18 are interconnected by means of edge strips 10, 20, or formations, with interengaged tongues e.g. 13 and grooves e.g. 16 and a resilient seal 17 fixed to strip 10. Each edge strip is fixed to its panel, e.g. 18, by projections 19. The panel may be of plastics-coated asbestos. The embodiments shown are so-called dust-proof ceilings, and adjacent pairs of interconnected panels are supported on top-hat sectioned members 27 having edge flanges 34 with upper ribs 29, which ribs engage in slots 28 formed across the width of strips 10, 20. A rubber seal 30 is provided, and strip lighting may be attached to the flanges 34. The edge strips may be replaced by integral edge formations forming joint members. In this embodiment, the panels and edge members may be moulded or extruded from, e.g., copper, steel, platinium, an alloy or a plastics material.
