Abstract

1351359 Driving belts DAYCO CORP 29 Sept 1972 [1 Oct 1971] 45084/72 Heading F2Q A compression section 14 of a transmission belt comprises layers 24 of elastomeric material interposed between layers 15, 17 of woven material, the layers 15, 17 each being under a different amount of tension and the angle B between the warps and wefts of layer 16 being different from the corresponding angles A, C of adjacent layers 15, 17. The tension in each layer increases as the distance of the layer from a load carrying section 13 increases so that minimum compressive stresses are imposed on the belt as it is moved around associated pulleys of minimum diameter. The woven material may be impregnated with elastomeric material. The belt comprises a fabric cover 11 which may extend around the entire surface of the belt and preferably is impregnated with elastomeric material.
