Abstract

1351071 Folding paper; cutting apparatus LA CELLOPHANE 7 Jan 1972 [7 Jan 1971] 865/72 Heading B8R Apparatus for folding drawings to a predetermined format comprises a zig-zag folding unit C and means 51 to convey the folded drawing to a further folding unit where at least one further fold is imparted to the drawing in a direction perpendicular to the zig-zag folds. Individual drawings are severed from a web of drawings by a transverse cutter 6 travelling on a carriage 4, the drawings are trimmed at their margins by longitudinal cutters 22 and enter cooperating rotary folding cylinders 31 and 32 which impart a series of alternating fold lines to each drawing such that it gathers on conveyer 51 in concertina formation. The conveyer moves each drawing up to a stop 62 whereupon a folding blade 59 is actuated to drive the drawing through nip rollers 57 and 58 onto a table 64. As the drawing abuts a stop 66 a further transverse fold is imparted by blade 65. The folded product is compressed between belts 51 and 73.
