Abstract

1350658 Mineral-mining machines COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 9 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28636/71 Heading E1F A loading cowl for association with a rotary cutter drum of a mining machine comprises a curved metal sheet 1 backed by a layer of plastics 5 in turn backed by a metal earthing screen. The sheet and the screen are bonded to the preferably ribbed layer 5 and the spaces between the ribs contain rigid polyurethane foam material. Projections can extend radially outwards from the back of the sheet 1. In another embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) two dust-suppressing spray blocks are inserted in recesses in the rear of the cowl, the sheet 1 having two corresponding series of holes.
