Abstract

1349508 Aerosol fire extinguishants IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Jan 1971 [5 Feb 1970 28 Aug 1970] 5590/70 and 41601/70 Heading C4X [Also in Division A5] An aerosol fire extinguishant comprises a foamed gel of an at least partially neutralized aqueous alkali metal silicate. Silica may be included to minimize phase separation. In Example 8, a foamable gel is prepared from aqueous sodium silicate, monoammonium phosphate, sodium aluminate and a foaming agent and charged into an aerosol dispenser together with a 40 : 60 (wt.) mixture of CCl 2 F 2 and C 2 Cl 2 F 4 .
