1346176 Benzodiazepines AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS CORP 24 Aug 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 40811/70 Heading C2C Benzodiazepine derivatives are prepared by the following routes (R 1 =C 1-8 alkyl, R 2 = C 1-8 alkyl, C 2-9 alkoxycarbonyl or NR 1 R 2 = 1-pyrrolidinyl, piperidino, morpholino; R 3 =H, halogen; R 4 = halogen, C 1-3 alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio, CN, CF 3 , NO 2 ; R 5 = C 1-8 alkyl; X = halogen; Y = C 1-8 alkoxy; n=2-8). The 3-halo and alkoxy compounds are anticonvulsants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
