Abstract
1345350 Abrasive tools DAWSON PRECISION COMPONENTS Ltd 21 Dec 1972 [30 Dec 1971] 60744/71 Heading B3D A polishing or abrading head comprises an arm b mounted at one end on a ball race b1 at the centre of the base of a flanged circular disc B for rotary movement about the axis of the disc, a spindle b2 extending normally from the arm eccentrically of the ball race, a weight b3 mounted on the other end of the arm, a plate b5 closing the top of the flanged disc, and a polishing or abrading pad A mounted over the disc whereby as the arm rotates about the axis of the spindle, the disc and pad, being mounted on the ball race, when frictional pressure is applied to the face of the pad to resist rotation, move in an orbital path. The plate has a central hole b6 providing clearance for the spindle. The pad A is of textile material, sand paper, abrasive or the like covering a foamed pad a1 and secured to the disc by a cord a2 passing through a hem a3.
