Abstract

1343721 Cots; seats; playpens M MATHOU 19 April 1971 [27 Feb 1970 3 Dec 1970] 24376/71 Headings A4J and A4U A cot comprises two end panels 101, with uprights 106 and two side panels 104, the latter being vertically slidable relative to the former, and a mattress base 105 supported on the panels. Removal of one of the side panels converts it into a seat, while removal of the base 105 and inversion of the cot provides a playpen. As shown the upper and lower longitudinal members 119 of the side frames have end members 121 each formed with a pair of bent jaws for sliding engagement with channels 108, 109 in the upright 106 of the adjacent end panel 101, which carries a spring wire catch 113 to hold the side panel in the raised position. Lifting of the side panels is limited by caps fixed on the uprights 106, and downward movement by screws passing through holes in the uprights at suitable positions; similar screws below the lower members of the side panels hold the side panels raised semipermanently. The mattress base 105 is supported on angle bolts 116 in the uprights 106, and may be fixed to the uprights when desired by reinforcing brackets screwed to the respective members.
