Abstract

1341281 Leno selvedges RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd 28 May 1971 [4 June 1970] 18184/71 Headings D1E and DIK Selvedge threads 16, 17 are shed normally by frames 11, 12 and the thread 17 is also shogged to either side of the thread 16 so that, unlike a normal leno weave wherein one thread is always over and the other thread always under the weft, the threads 16, 17 are alternately over and under the wefts. The shogging need not take place each pick. The thread 16 is shed by a heald 18 having a U-shaped slot 22, 23, 25 through which the thread 17, shed by a half heald 21, passes. The thread 17 is shogged by two wires &c., 32, 33 when in the slot portion 25 so that it may pass on either side of the thread 16 in one of the slots 22, 23. Pans of warps (Fig. 3, not shown) may be leno woven into centre selvedges and the wires (Fig. 4, not shown) may be replaced by a forked rod (140). The half heald 21 may be pivotal or flexible.
