Abstract

1340767 Endoscopic photography RICHARD WOLF GmbH 19 April 1971 [2 March 1970] 22891/71 Heading G2A An endoscope 1 having a camera 2 mounted at one end has a light-attenuating or regulating member between the camera lens and the endoscope eye-piece. As shown, this member 9 is an iris diaphragm, although it can alternatively be a neutral wedge filter system, and the exit pupil of the endoscope optics and the entry pupil of the camera optics are arranged to be coincident in the plane of member 9. The diaphragm can be controlled by an electric stepping motor 14 acting through a pinion 15. The endoscope eye-piece is shown at 8, and the subject at the far end of the endoscope tube 1 is illuminated by light from a lamp 13 which is conveyed by a light-conducting cable 5 which connects at 6 to another light-conducting cable in the endoscope itself. The illuminating system 4 may also have a diaphragm 11, disposed at a nodal point in its lens system 12. This arrangement enables the intensity of the illuminating light to be varied in accordance with the varying conditions of the subject inside a body cavity which is being photographed.
