Abstract
1,239,368. Multi-orifice extruder. KOMBINAT FOKTSCHRITT LANDMASCHINEN NEUSTADT IN SACHSEN VEB. 31 March, 1970, No. 15149/70. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] A processing machine (e.g. a pelleting press) has rollers 10, mounted on bearings on stub shafts 8 attached to a drive-shaft 5, which press material through a pellet die 4. An inverted cup 6 is provided below the die, which directs material which has passed through the die to a shoot 2. Air is caused to pass through the centre of the cup 6, being pumped by spiral shaped ribs 30 on the base of the cup, which may be aided by pumping air into the housing via pipe 37. Air then flows through passages 31, 32 to the bearings and passes out through labyrinthine seals 34 thereby cooling the bearings and preventing ingress of foreign material to the bearing. Lubricant is pumped to a pipe 23 from which it drips on to a surface 27 and is carried by centrifugal force to the bearings 19. Covers 20 are provided on the outside of the rollers to prevent ingress of material and may also prevent lubricant escaping from the rollers.
