Abstract

1,236,344. Tobacco-smoke filters. J. G. JOHNSON. 14 July, 1969 [1 Aug., 1968], No. 35325/69. Heading A2C. A tobacco-smoke filter 14 for a cigarette 10 comprises two concentric traps 24, 30, an inlet port 44, an outlet port 46 and apertures 38, (39), 40 between the traps 24, 30 having axes directed to cause smoke to change direction A from between 90 to (as shown) 135 degrees when transferring from the first trap 24 to the second trap 30. The filter 14 may include a fibrous wad 16 and may further include a heat dissipator (34) formed as a cylindrical extension of the outer wall 26 of the trap 30 surrounding the wad 16. An activated charcoal filter element may also be incorporated in the filter 14.
