Abstract
1,236,017. Gas filter; cyclone separator. PLENTY & SON Ltd. 14 May, 1968 [23 June, 1967], No. 27197/67. Headings BIT and B2P. Dust-carrying gas enters gas filter 2 at 4 and is given a vortical flow by blades 6 so that a cyclone separation occurs in tube 8. Dust collects in chamber 10, while the gas leaves through 12 and passes through filter tubes 14 which are closed at the lower ends. In a variation (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown), a portion of gas together with the pre-separated dust passes from chamber 10 through an aperture into a hopper and thence by way of a cone deflector positioned beneath the hopper exit to the base of the housing, gas being allowed to rejoin the main stream through apertures (22) in plate (24) which supports the hopper.
