Abstract

1,235,075. Photographic materials having anti-static layer. ILFORD Ltd. March 2, 1970 [March 7, 1969], No.12268/69. Heading G2C. A photographic material having improved surface conductivity has coated on the surface thereof (i) an aqueous alcohol solution containing at least 0À2% by weight of an alkali-metal polyvinyl sulphonate or (ii) an aqueous solution of at least 0À2% by weight of an alkali-metal polyvinyl sulphonate and at least 0À1% by weight of KC1. When the aqueous-alcoholic solution (i) is used, alcohol is preferably added to an aqueous solution of sodium polyvinyl sulphonate until opalescence occurs. When solution (ii) is used, gelatine may also be present. The solutions may form part of a topmost emulsion layer, a supercoat layer or a backing layer such as an anti-halation layer.
