Abstract

1,232,944. Phosphating steel. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. Jan.31, 1969 [Jan.31, 1968], No.5393/69. Heading C7U. A low-alloy weatherproof steel (defined with reference to J1S G 3114) is cleaned with acid and then treated with a solution comprising phosphate, 0À005 to 1 mole/l in total of at least two members from Zn, Ca, Pb, Ba and Ni, and 0À008 to 0À6 mole/l of an oxidizing acid, whereby a phosphate coating is formed on the steel. The oxidizing acid may be HNO 3 , HNO 2 , or HC1O 4 and the treating liquid may also contain 5 to 100 mg. Cu per litre.
