Abstract

In a "spotting" unit, a sieve-like work support is provided for clothes to be spotted by an assembly 37 comprising a spray nozzle 39 surrounded by apertures 41 connected respectively by valves 27, 28 to a cleaning intensifier tank 26 and to a steam generator. The work support comprises a perforated plate or wire mesh 3 carried on a collecting tray 5 on a tubular frame 2 and covered, if required, by gauge 4. Tray 5 is connected to collecting tank 8 and trailing parts of garments are received in an, e.g. plastic trough 9. Mounted on a wall 12 behind frame 2 is hood 13 connected to an exhauster 14 and having a light 15 underneath it. Valves 27, 28 are controlled by foot switch 29 and -the Steam may be cut off by hand switch 36. Compressed air is supplied to container 26 which is preferably coated inside and out with acid resistant plastic. The spray nozzle 39 and apertures 41 deliver steam and intensifier in a ratio of -1:5 and the assembly 37 includes a ferro-magnetic plate so that it may be held on a magnet 22. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) a diffusing arrangement is provided in the back wall 12.
