Abstract

1,230,567. Coated razor blades. WILKINSON SWORD Ltd. 19 July, 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 33606/67. Heading B2E. A razor blade has on and/or adjacent its cutting edge a coating of or containing a copolymer of thiocarbonyl fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene. The copolymer may consist of chains of the general formula:- where x, y and z are integers not greater than twenty. The copolymers may have a molecular ratio CF 2 S:C 2 F 4 of from 2:1 to 1:30. The copolymer may be plasticised e.g. with chlorofluorocarbon oil or a perfluorocarbon oil. The copolymer is deposited e.g. as a suspension or solution on the blade and is thereafter heated to cause the copolymer to adhere. The copolymer may be plasticised by reheating the coated blade in contact with a plasticiser. The copolymer may also contain small proportions of groups derived from thiocarbonyl chloro fluoride, perfluorothioacetyl fluoride, hexafluoropropylene chloro trifluoroethylene, perfluoroethyliodide, or bis trifluoromethyl peroxide.
