Abstract
1,230,432. 5 - Acylamino - 1,3,4 - thiadiazoles. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 29 Aug., 1968 [19 Sept., 1967], No. 41320/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R is hydrogen or an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or alkylmercapto group, R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl, alkenyl, chloroalkyl, alkoxy or aryloxy group, or the group -NR<SP>11</SP>R<SP>111</SP> where R<SP>11</SP> is hydrogen or an alkyl or alkoxy group and R<SP>111</SP> is an alkyl or alkenyl group. The compounds are prepared by reacting a 5-amino-1,3,4- thiadiazole of the formula with (a) an isocyanate R<SP>111</SP>NCO, (b) an acid halide R<SP>11</SP>R<SP>111</SP>NCOHal in the presence of an acid binder, (c) an acid halide R<SP>1</SP>CO.Hal, in the presence of an acid binder, provided that R<SP>1</SP> is not -NR<SP>11</SP>R<SP>111</SP>, or (d) an anhydride R<SP>1</SP>CO.O. CO.R<SP>1</SP>, provided that R<SP>1</SP> is not -NR<SP>11</SP>R<SP>111</SP>. A large number of 5-acylamino-1,3,4-thiazoles is disclosed. The compounds are used as herbicides (see Division A5).
