Abstract

122,379. Norton, J. L., and Norton Motors, Ltd. Sept. 24, 1918. Valves; valve-gear. -In cam gears in which beat or lift valves open against the pressure of a leaf spring, a portion of the spring rests upon the stem of the valve, or upon a tappet rod, and is engaged by the actuating cam. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the member b of a leaf spring is located between the stem of the vulve a and its actuating cam j : the other portion of the spring bears upon a pin f carried by the valve stem. The portion b of the spring is shaped as shown in Fig. 1 and bears upon the underside of the member c of the spring.
