Abstract

1,221,619. Nozzles. GRINNELL CORP. 12 June, 1969 [12 June, 1968], No. 29759/69. Heading B2F. [Also in Division F4] A tubular cleaning unit 18 for removing lint, &c. from a weaving loom comprises a flexible tube 21, rigid tubes 20, 24 and a nozzle 25 of flattened shape having two outlet passages 25g and 25h offset from the general longitudinal axis of the unit. The unit is supplied with compressed air from an overhead pipe (16, Fig. 3) to which it is connected via a coupling 19. In operation the passage of compressed air through the flexible tube 21 and nozzle outlet passages 25g and 25h causes the nozzle to move in an oscillatory or circular path across the surface of the loom to be cleaned. In a modified cleaning unit (Figs. 5, 9 and 10, not shown) the nozzle is provided with a single discharge passage (46d) which is inclined at a small angle so as to be offset from the longitudinal axis of the unit. The top of the unit is provided with a ball joint connection (44a) to allow oscillation to take place. A tube (45) made of a vinyl resin links the nozzle with the ball joint connection.
