Abstract

1,221,059. Educational appliance. PHILOGRAPH PUBLICATIONS Ltd. 4 Dec., 1968 [16 Dec., 1967], No. 57247/67. Heading G5G. Apparatus for teaching mathematics comprises coloured counters 14 located and movable on a series of vertical guides 13 mounted on a backboard 10 which backboard comprises an upper counting area 10a and a lower storage part 10b coloured so as to match the colours of the counters, a series of masking cards being provided to fit on the front of the backboard so as to leave exposed only that part of the counting area commensurate with the numerical base being used. A member 17 is formed with a longitudinal recess 18 for receiving and supporting cards 19 bearing numerals which may be employed to indicate the number of counters 14 appearing in the counting area 10a.
